Chasing an Inspiration

Have you experienced a creative meltdown? It's a time when you feel like writing a story, a poem or an an article, but then an inspiration has escaped your mind. If yes, let me tell you this, I feel for you guys. Yeah, I also often experience that and I hate it.
Most of the times as I experience it,  I just stare blankly on the wall wishing that an idea or topic would just pop up on my mind then the creative juices would just follow. But things didn't happen happen as I want them to be. Of course, nothing would really happen If I just continue doing that. So here's some of the things/ activities I do to help me let the creative juices flow and and something creative to come out.

  • Go Online
          For me, Internet is really a big help. You can get a lot of informations from it since people upload music, videos, create articles and post illustrations onto different web sites every day. Also, on social networking sites, there are all sorts of online nooks and crannies to get inspiration from. Some of the sites I visit are: Tumblr.com, YouTube.com, and Pinterest.com
  • Go Outside
          Sometimes our brain needs a different view or scenery to get it work again. What I do is that I stroll at the mall since it's only walking distance from our house or visit our neighborhood. For me, going outside serves as my break from all the stress I got even I'm just in our house because of over thinking, I guess. :)) With that, I'm also letting the surroundings surprise me- and from that surprise, I can now create something amazing.
  • Nod Off
          I read from a magazine that a Harvard researcher said that sleep boosts your creativity by 33% and sleeping on new ideas and information will help the brain enhance creative problem solving. I admit that I often do this and I find it really helpful. I believe that we can come up with a fresher concept by taking a sleep or just a nap because our brain have reorganized itself and our brain cells had the chance to recuperate.

I believe we all have an endless supply of good and creative ideas locked in a closet in our mind and just waiting to be unleashed. Don't just lay there and wait for nothing. Pursue it! Let's chase that inspiration and creativity.

Registered Voter

It will be a long weekend so I grab the opportunity to go home in Bicol to spend the weekend and holidays with my family and also to attend some important things. Included in the list of things I have to attend to is to file my voter's registration in our municipality today. My father reminds me every time that if I find a schedule to go home before sembreak, then the better to avoid last- minute registration.

Even I haven't catch some sleep, after having our breakfast, I go to the COMELEC office together with my mom who needs to register her biometrics record and my cousin, also a first-time voter. The office is open during Saturdays and as we get there, we're lucky because there are only few applicants so we don't have to wait for so long. The new and eligible voter should not forget to bring a copy of  birth certificate and a valid ID. The procedure is very easy, first the applicant's identity and residence should be verified. Next, the applicant shall be given three application forms to fill-up and the applicant's biometrics will then be digitally captured. Lastly, an Acknowledgment Receipt will be given to the applicant.

Here is the list ist of valid identification (ID) cards, according to COMELEC:

  1. Current employee’s identification card (ID), with the signature of the employer or authorized representative;
  2. Postal ID;
  3. Student’s ID or library card, signed by the school authority;
  4. Senior Citizen’s ID;
  5. Driver’s license;
  6. NBI/PNP clearance;
  7. Passport;
  8. SSS/GSIS ID;
  9. Integrated Bar of the Philippine (IBP) ID;
  10. License issued by the Professional Regulatory Commission (PRC) and;
  11. Any other valid ID

The voters' registration for upcoming 2013 elections resumed last August 1,2012 and will end on October 31, 2012. I'm encouraging everyone who are new and eligible voters to file your applications this early so that we can take part in electing our national leaders.

Resume

Resume is really important especially for job seekers. It is the first document that the employer would typically look at, so it is you first impression in the employment process.

As the search for employment has become more electronic, résumés have followed suit. Online resume is a resume that is created and/or hosted online. Job seekers are finding an ever increasing demand to have an electronic version of their resumé available to employers and professionals who use Internet recruiting at any time. Online résumé distribution services have emerged to allow job seekers to distribute their resumés to employers of their choices via email. So it's really beneficial not just for job seekers but also for employers who use electronic résumé processing systems to handle large volumes of resumés.

Our professor on the subject Online Writing required us to make an online resume. At first, I don't have any idea how it is different with the typical/ usual resume. I thought maybe it has something to do with the format. So, I just searched for an online resume generator which I first saw as I typed on the search engine about online resume. Here's the site where I did my own online resume, CLICK

Rejected UPCAT Essay Questions

I remember taking UPCAT (University of the Philippines College Admission Test) 3 years ago. As I go to the testing center, I was armed with prayers, pencil, test permit, and snacks not knowing what to expect, not even wanting to expect anything because I'm afraid I might disappoint myself. Back then we were required to  answer English, Math, Science and Reading Comprehension. But today, I was surprised knowing that UPCAT comes with an essay part. You heard it right, ESSAY Questions. Maybe they are curious with what's inside the mind of the future Iskolar ng Bayan. As I was browsing topics on Twitter this morning, I came across #RejectedUPCATEssayQuestions being one of the top trending topics. This only prove how creative Filipinos can be as they created this hilarious, funny, and witty questions. This Qs really made my day!

Here are some of my favorites:

  •  Kung nag evolve ang tao from ape to man. At what point ka nagpaiwan?
