Idols Rocked The Stage

Last Friday, September 21, 2012 was totally a blast! My classmates and I attended the one-night concert dubbed "American Idol Live Tour 2012" featuring the top 10 winners of the last season of American Idol. These include Phillip Phillips, our very own Jessica Sanchez, Joshua Ledet, Colton Dixon, Skylar Laine, Hollie Cavanagh, Elsie Testone, Heejun Han, DeAndre Brackensick and Erika Van Pelt.

We went to Smart Araneta Coliseum 4 hours before the concert to line up. When we arrived, there was a single file of line already ( I must say, we're not just the only one who's really excited for this concert.) I was pretty excited days and even weeks before this concert because of our own Pinoy Pride  Jessica Sanchez and at the same time, I've been a kind-of fan of this batch.

When we got inside the arena, we picked the best spot for a general admission seating as possible. =) While waiting for the Idols to perform, we just patiently watched the commercials on the projector screen and we just appreciate it when the commercials of different TV series played.

Then, the lights got dimmed and the crowd went wild! I saw that the crowd really got lots of energy as the group (except from Philip) performed the song "Sing" for their opening number.
I'm just not familiar with some of the songs they have performed but here's the list of the performance that I can still remember. Forgive if it's not the complete set list of the concert. :))
  • "Master Blaster"DeAndre Brackensick
For me, this number allowed DeAndre to flex the growly, gravely aspect of his vocal range and of course, he did not forget to whip his hair back and forth to punctuate his jaunty spins
  • "Undo It"- Skylar and Hollie
  • “Glitter In The Air” – Erika Van Pelt
I must say Erika was  great, she even got a loud cheer from the audience. Actually, she reminded me so much of Pink and with her very powerful voice, it just showed how she commanded an arena-sized crowd.
  • "Moves Like Jagger" - Group Number ( Hollie, Joshua, Colton, and Erika)
One of the performances I enjoyed. The dance moves of Joshua here was really something that should be seen.
  • "Party Rock Anthem" - Heejun, DeAndre and Jessica
  • “Whole Lotta Love” – Elise Testone
Best word I can describe Elise's performance- SHOWSTOPPER. Elise sang this song really very well, she oozed with confidence and appeal. Ohh. forgot to mention, the crowd went wild when she performed.
  • “Rumor Has It” – Elise (Deandre, Erika backup)
I can say this performance was a lot of fun. My classmates and I enjoyed singing along and this was also another crowd favorite.
  • “Meant To Live” – Colton Dixon
When Colton came out, the audience gone really wild and crazy. It's not just cheers but also shrieks. Waaaahhhh. Honestly, I'm not really familiar with the song but  seeing Colton perform was a visual feast and that's an important thing. LOL
  • "Piano Man"- Colton Dixon
  • “Just the way you are” / “What Makes You Beautiful” - Group except Philip
I'm fan of these songs so I really enjoyed it. We sang and danced along with them. The theme was Hawaiian tropic so the stage was filled with bright and neon colors. I loved how they ended the first half of the show.
  •  “Why You Don’t Call Me” – Jessica Sanchez (Joshua and Deandre backup)
So, here comes the BB Chez cheers. They really gone wild, seriously.
  • “Proud Mary” – Jessica, Deandre, Josh
Here's another SOLID performance. It's not surprising that I had  goosebumps with her performance. Joshua and DeAndre were great backup singers/ dancers on this one.
  • Best Thing I Ever Had” – Jessica
BB Chez were really in the house! They gone wilder than ever. =)
[Actually, I was expecting her to sing more popular songs from Idol like Stuttering or/and And I Am Telling You.]
  • “Stay With Me” – Skylar
  • “Rolling in the Deep” – Hollie (Erika and Elise backup)
Hollie's performance was incredible. We had a great time with this performance as we danced with Ericka and Elise, we just simply loved their moves equivalent to the lyrics of the song. :D
  •  “Give Your Heart a Break” – Hollie
Again, I enjoyed singing along and her performance was absolutely terrific.
  •  “It’s A Man’s Man’s World” – Joshua Ledet
  • “I Knew You Were Waiting For Me” – Joshua and Jessica
  • “Superstition” – Phillip Phillips
He has good command of the stage.  He engaged the audience well and he was great on guitar, I must say. In between, he was mumbling something but I could barely understand him because of the shrieks and cheers from the crowd.
  • "Somebody That I Used To Know” – Phillip and Elise
Definitely one of the highlight of the show. I love the song and I loved how they performed it on stage.
  •  “Home” – Phillip Phillips (with the Top 9 as backup)
  •  “Raise Your Glass”- Girls
  • “Glad You Came”- Boys (Eventually, girls joined in)
This was a great way to close the show.  Everyone did their parts well, the performance had great energy and these songs are a great feel good way to close out a concert. Though, the audience was screaming for "moooorrrreeee...moooorrreee!" of course, they had to end the show.

All in all, I can say that the show was really worth the price of admission. We really enjoyed it and we definitely had a good time.

**I wanted to share some pictures from the concert but I won't be able to at this time since I'm still waiting for my friend to upload it. Pls. bear with me. =))

The Magic Stayed With Me

It's been a week since we went to Enchanted Kingdom but the memories are still fresh in my mind. I was with my sister, cousins, and my cousin's boyfriend. Actually, we've been planning this trip like- so long ago and this time, we're so lucky because my cousin found a deal on ensogo wherein we purchased the ride all-you-can ticket at only Php345 instead of the usual price at Php500.

The park first opened on July 28, 1995. And it took 18 years before I first set foot in it. LOL. I was really excited about this trip and I was really giddy to walk into this magical place. We wanted to be there on the very first hour so we'll have more time to try all the rides. Before we entered the park, security personnel had to check our bags to see if there were things like deadly weapons that were obviously not allowed to bring inside. But I was disappointed that even foods were not allowed to be brought inside; it's either you're gonna eat it before you enter or you'll "donate" or surrender it with them. I've seen some people who lined before me surrendered their food. So I put the burger that was supposed to be my baon on the part of my bag that I think was safe on the security guard's eyes. But I was wrong, they still found my food so I did not have choice but to donate it since I really want to go inside. (Until now I still feel bad about the food. LOL).

Just want to share with you that the prices of the food inside are actually double than it's normal price when you buy it at grocery stores. So it's better if you have your own service and bring your own food for lunch or snack. But since we only commute to get there, we had our late lunch at Waltermart, a mall near at EK just a 5-minute ride from there.

The place is not that crowded as we get inside, maybe because it's kinda early. But I assume that eventually it will be filled with people after some time since it's also a long weekend and I guess everyone needs the magic that EK could give.

So, for now I will let the photos do the talking...

My sister and me with Princess Victoria and Eldar the Wizard (EK's signature character)

Rio Grande Rapids-
Want a wet n' wild experience? Then, this is definitely for you. The experience was dynamic and fun!
Wheel of Fate
The wheel of Fate was the second ride we had. Riding this let me see and enjoy the whole view of the park and beyond.. :)
Space Shuttle

Before I set my feet in EK, I told myself that I won't leave EK  without experiencing to ride the roller coaster.  So as we head on the Space Shuttle, I'm excited and nervous at the same time. This literally takes my breath away and makes my heart skip a beat. Choosing not to shout is definitely not an option. After the ride, I can say this is one of the best and the thrill and excitement are really worth it!
Anchors Away
I can say this is one of the freakiest rides! This ride moves like a pendulum at a very fast speed. As it sways back and forth, I feel like I'm gonna fall any moment and it really makes my stomach muscles contract at its highest level. All throughout the ride, I just S-C-R-E-A-M!!!
EKstreme Tower Ride
I really want to try this ride but I didn't had the chance to experience it since when we decided to give this a try,  it's getting late and we still need to catch the earlier trip possible to Cubao. I promise myself the next time we get back to EK, this will be one of the first rides I'm gonna try.

Overall, my first time in Enchanted Kingdom was a blast! I would definitely love to go back and enjoy again everything that EK offers. I hope the next time I'll get back here, I'm with my whole family sharing the fun and excitement. Indeed, the magic stayed with me. =)

After its foundation in 2001, the College of Communication which has three departments, namely: Department of Broadcast Communication, Department of Journalism, and the newest one, the Department of Communication Research, takes another step further to academic excellence on its 11th year.
